I don't have a input for rpm. I will be doing a/f vs. time on the laptop. So if I have a driver and start datalogging when he switches from 2nd to 3rd and time it with a stop-watch, it won't be an issue. I cut the logging off at the end of the run, and measure time backwards from the end of the log. Mark the starting point, and then create points along the chart to represent various rpm increments which I can then tune from. I also like the idea of putting it in the exhaust near the subframe for a few other reasons. I don't have to worry about high heat like you mentioned. It also is supposed to not be mounted between 3:00 and 9:00 (and definately not 6:00). I have enough clearance above to mount it at 12:00 and I still have enough clearance to remove it easily for the periodic free-air calibration.
